In the end, its all about Joy

Life is meant to be lived and experienced, yet our generation (especially millennials) often loses sight of this fundamental truth. We become consumed by goal setting, productivity, side jobs, and the constant pressure to make the most out of every single moment we breathe. We strive to maximize every waking minute, checking items off our to-do lists and identifying new projects to tackle.

What we truly need is a rewiring and reconditioning of our mindset to recognize that life is not solely about doing, but more about being. It’s about fully inhabiting our bodies, connecting with nature, cherishing the people around us, and embracing the unfolding journey of life itself. Not every moment needs to be dedicated to achieving goals or being productive. By allowing ourselves to be present, attuned to our bodies, and immersed in silence, we open ourselves up to the subtle messages that the Universe is trying to convey.

Amidst life’s ups and downs, as we relentlessly pursue goals and strive for the picture-perfect lives portrayed on social media, we often forget that the ultimate objective is joy. Joy surpasses mere happiness or momentary excitement; it is a warm, fuzzy feeling that resides deep within our hearts. It nourishes our souls and provides profound satisfaction, often arising from the simplest of things.

Now, I understand that experiencing joy every single day might not be feasible. Some days, we must accept the full spectrum of human emotions and be open to the various feelings that arise. The real challenge lies in how readily we embrace negative emotions such as guilt, anger, sadness, worry, or anxiety, and gradually steer ourselves towards more empowering emotions like hope, strength, love, acceptance, peace, and ultimately, joy. Choosing to move away from negativity and allowing it to pass enables us to make a conscious decision to pursue joy.

After all, if joy is not our goal, then what is?

Love + light,
